What matters most in your role as a Children’s Ministry leader? Here’s a few thoughts & the order I would place these priorities (although, obviously, there is significant overlap):
- A growing & healthy walk with God.
- A growing & healthy relationship with their family.
- A strong & supportive relationship with their lead pastor & staff.
- Aligning ministry vision with the overall vision of the church.
- Developing leaders.*
- Growing their team & equipping their leaders.*
- Equipping parents to disciple their own children.
- Creating engaging program with the goal of life-change.
- Everything else.
*see here for the difference between "developing" & "equipping" leaders

Great points Jeff! I would probably place these items in point 3, 5 & 6, but they are certainly worthy enough to stand on their own. Thanks for sharing.
Great post Greg!
Under “Everything Else” I would highlight these two things:
1.) Over-communicate. Over-communicate to your boss your vision, plans, projects, and changes within your areas of responsibility so nothing blindsides him. Over-communicate to your peers you don’t step on each other’s toes. Over-communicate to your team about what’s happening in the church and where you want to go. Over-communicate to kids and families God’s Word, resources that will be helpful to them, and your desire to serve.
2.) Make things get done. It’s not the leader of leaders job to do everything, but it is their job to make sure everything gets done.
